I had been thinking of beginning my blog for a while. And of course, I always came back to the purpose…encouragement. I’m a feeler and a thinker, and sometimes I wonder…”what does it all mean?!”
Today we are focused on community, in the sense of sharing….”Hello, social media!”. So of course, my goal for a blog was to share and have communication with others. Hopefully, the final take away will be encouragement and motivation all stemmed from the One True King, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
When I thought about the precious gift of God’s love, I began to think of treasures, unrivaled beauty, and adornments. I thought of power, glory, and triumph…all adjectives to describe Christ. I began circling around crowns and images of power, which began to include jewels and jewelery….and POP! I thought of a pearl, and the process that takes place in order for a natural pearl to be formed. And to me it gave a great picture of what it means to be bold in Christ.
Some may or may not know that a pearl is formed by something that is initially harmful. A single piece of sand that becomes stuck inside an oyster, clam, or mussel. To protect themselves, they begin to form a protection around the sand to keep it from being harmful and irritating. Eventually this protective layer hardens and creates the pearls we find inside.
I thought, wow, what a picture of God’s love. With care and discipline, God protects us and builds us up to become more Christ-like. We are cared for and loved. We are imperfect and may be “irritating” to those in our life. But God turns us into something beautiful and strong. He carries us with Him and hopefully by prying away the fleshly desires and negativity in our human nature, we are able to share God’s love and expose to those the nature of our creator…our loving, adoring Father.
I hope those who are reading, will join me in encouraging others through the many trials of life. There are many questions, worries, and things to do that keep us distracted from the most beautiful miracles from simply living.
