Coming to terms with your life is a HUGE title for this post, haha. I think, mainly, I’m just looking to give others some solace whom may be struggling with things I have struggled with too. It feels good to not be alone, ya know?
Nothing in life is guaranteed, and because of that one small, but REAL TRUTH… we can’t settle. Settling is the saddest, worst thing we can do. Our time is not limitless, and we don’t get to buy more of it.
So, What Do You Do?
You freaking take life serious! BE INTENTIONAL! What dreams do you have? What makes you happy? These are the things that shouldn’t be small parts of your life. One study, quantified that 87% of Americans have NO passion for their jobs! That means well over the majority, have no strong emotion about the thing that literally takes up the most time of their lives.
I’m sorry, but that is seriously depressing! I mean to think that people literally WASTE their time spending energy they can’t get back on something they don’t even care about is heartbreaking. Especially, when you consider how stressful and taxing many jobs are for people. If you aren’t passionate about your job, figure out an exit strategy. That’s what I did when my first life-crisis happened >>> I told Adam on our honeymoon that I had to quit my job, he’s a keeper.
You were not created for nothing. That sounds a little harsh, even though it is meant to be encouraging. We each have a purpose. We all have the capability to live in joy. Christ has divine purpose for your life.
How Can We Live In Joy?
Honestly, this is the part that has always been somewhat elusive to me. And, recently, I’ve found that the reason is because I try to control my life. Maybe you can already see where this is going…we have NO CONTROL Logically, I want to met my goals, tackle my to-do list with precision, and make it all turn-out how I want it to….haha, I mean anyone else a perfectionist?! But, life isn’t a straight line, nope, there’s so much more to what we experience here.
God is the only one who is all knowing. And He will NEVER forsake me. There’s my assurance. It’s easier to say that, but harder to believe it in times that are difficult. But, the evidence proves its always true. On the other side of it all, I’ve been made better. I’ve never been alone, and all the trials I’ve faced have been resolved.
With such a phenomenal “insurance policy”, I’m able to soften my reigns on what I tend to micromanage. And, that truly brings joy to my life because I get to spend my energy being present and focusing on what’s right in front of me. There’s no better time to live than now, right?!
What can you do to take control?
- PERSPECTIVE: what is going WELL right now? Reflect on those things, and evaluate why it feels good.
- GRATITUDE: even mundane tasks can get the best of us. Cleaning messes, doing laundry, grocery shopping, having the same exact schedule every. single. day. BUT here is where you can flip the script. Many of you may have people you live with >> so if you spend time doing chores, think about how it would be if those messes didn’t exist? You’d probably be living alone and SUPER lonely! Thankfulness can be the greatest medicine for filling you to the brim with joy.
- WELLNESS: to have a joyful life, you must take care of yourself. It’s that simple. Mentally, physically, and spiritually. You have to do the best for yourself, otherwise, you can’t get any positive traction. If you don’t feel good, you won’t live good. Got it?
- FUN: you need to have fun! That is different for everyone, so make a list of all the things that you find fun, get out your planner, and set dates! It could even be as simple as reading a book > block out time for reading! Making plans, writing it down, and making it a priority will ensure a much higher success rate at actually HAVING FUN!
