I’m on a journey to rid my body and home of crap, and that includes makeup.
I did some research. And BOY OH BOY, was I shocked! I did a post recently about going organic because it has thoroughly wigged me out what HARMFUL ingredients are in products I use EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Did you know that the average woman absorbs FIVE POUNDS of toxins from our makeup alone during a year, and that’s just from using an average of products (some people use more)?!
Two resources I used to discover what the heck were in those products:
The app “Think Dirty” and the website (an app is available) EWG.org.
You can enter (sometimes barcode scan) products and receive a rating back about the toxicity of that product on a 1-10 scale. It’s very helpful and eye-opening! I implore you to try the “3 things in your cabinet” challenge. Just like it says, take three items you use EVERY DAY, and enter them into one of the resources above, I can almost guarantee you are going to be SHOCKED!
Many items that claim “100% organic” or “100% ___” are legally abiding the law, BUT many more times than not, they are able to claim “100%____” because something like only 5% of the ingredients are actually that “100%___”. So the rest of the product is infused with synthetic junk and ingredients we literally cannot pronounce…it is not natural, people!
