This NEW year has begun with NEW perspectives for me, from thinking about being a parent to participating in a weekly bible study group to handling physical and mental changes in my body. It’s been a whirlwind of compartmentalizing segments of my life (marriage, family, friends, work, church, living healthy, being pregnant) and trying to stay focused on one thing when it’s in front of me. Something that has been such a life-giving tool is being engaged in The Word more frequently. Attributed to my new weekly bible study group, my discipline in reading The Word has been a huge help in handling the changes taking place in my life at the moment.
I’m such a creature of habit, and although I like change…I’m very ritualistic in my daily routines. And because of that, time slips through so fast!!! I don’t know about y’all…but the weeks for me just go by and I’m planning for the weekends on Mondays. It’s hard for me to commit to things during the week, why…I have NO CLUE! But what I’ve found is that my mentality has a major flaw…each day is a NEW day, a fresh period of hours I will NEVER GET BACK! Why waste them? I don’t mean to go pack my days with endless tasks and commitments, BUT it’s like I have a chance to be productive in my life, live intentionally, and grow each day, whether its a week day or weekend.
I think my motto for the rest of this year is going to be “live intentionally”. There will be a lot of adjusting this year, with becoming a mother and all that :). SO, I think it’s time I start making sure my time is being utilized and not wasted away. One of the ways I TRY to keep centered is using a calendar. Enter, “PLANNER WORLD”! And if you don’t know what I mean, just search the hashtag #plannerlove on Instagram. It’s INSANE! I have to say though…I’ve ALWAYS LOVED PLANNERS! Whether I use them to their full potential or not….I’ve always had one. Last year I discovered a personal planner that is totally my jam, called the “Passion Planner”(you can find them at passionplanner.com). This one is great for personal goals, brainstorming, and work stuff. Even more recently I found the “Happy Planner”, which I’ve been using for more task oriented stuff for our house and keeping up with our schedules and I LOVE IT! There are tons of ways to customize it and buy add-ons that can really fit your style/goals for it’s use.
I know the best way to stay motivated and inspired is through reading, talking, and sharing about Christ. He is life-giving and drawing closer to Him, draws out so much goodness in my life; through interacting with family and friends, to seeing the world with brighter skies and hopeful attitudes. My hope is to make the time necessary to fill my days with interactions, tasks, and even chores that keep me in tuned to His will for my life. I’ve been using my planners to schedule time to read (more so I can keep track of my reading goals), I write verses in my planner so I can meditate on them since I open my planners daily, and I make sure to write down thoughts, special moments, etc in my planner so I can reflect on all that I’ve gone through (good or bad)….it’s really been therapeutic for me and I’ve really enjoyed it.
Whatever the way, my main take away is to truly make every effort to live intentionally! Praying to stay motivated 🙂
