There isn’t much we have control over in life. Really, not much at all if I’m being honest. It’s hard to recognize that life really is just happening to us. We don’t have the power to manage what we face. The only thing we can manage is ourselves.
The only way I manage myself is having a relationship with God. I wish I had a profound statement or philosophical theory that would captivate your mind and pull at your heart, but I don’t. All I simply have to say is that God created everything. He created you and me, and He gave us free will.
Each person is different, and nobody is perfect. Sin is in our world here, and so pain and hurt is part of our life. Expectations of others will always leave you disappointed, and there isn’t much you can do to make people bend towards your will. We have to learn to take the good with the bad, and many times we have to recognize that about ourselves so that we can work on the bad.
Since becoming a mother, I’ve had to do A LOT of self checking and refraining. I have a long way to go, but I am aware of it, thankfully. I wish I had the answers to make life easier, but the reality is that we all have junk to deal with.
I’ve suffered my entire life with depression, and anxiety and it’s been my choice to do what I can naturally to manage my mental health. I have been able to lean a lot on my diet and exercise + in the last two years, supplements. One thing I’ve realized is that I am never going to be “rid” of these things >> it’s just part of me. And, that’s one thing I want you to think about for yourself.
If you have issues with control, really do a self-evaluation. What are your hang-ups? What sets you off? What makes you nervous, anxious, aggravated? If you can evaluate that, you can identify your triggers.
Triggers are what you need to spend time investigating so that you can find what elements in your life need more attention. I want to encourage you that NO ONE is perfect! Just let go of that insane expectation.
The greatest control we can have is to give it all to Christ. And THAT is the ultimate freedom. That is all the control we can feel good about exercising. Give it all to Him. Walk in faith, Live intentionally.
