We often find ourselves feeling stuck in life >>> observing instead of doing which has us wondering what to do to find our purpose. We lack direction, and that is totally normal! Life gets in the way, and it easier to focus (or get lost) in the mundane tasks. Eventually, the grind of daily life will leave us wondering how to find our purpose in life. Often, the questioning will make us focused on the future and begin a cycle of dissatisfaction and confusion. I know, I’ve been there. And to find my purpose in life, I realized I had to be present.
Don’t by-pass where you are RIGHT NOW. It’s hard to do that when you want to figure it all out, but no amount of time or focus can give us the power to see our future. Embrace the now, and use the time right in front of you to set in motion a lifestyle of intention.
NOW THAT YOU ARE AWARE
Now that you are aware that you’re here, right now. Let’s focus on what used to make you happy, what do you love? What was fun to you BEFORE life expectations, before ideals and people’s opinions of you or what you should do? Like, what did you like to do when you were five years old?
Those give clues to what your innate passions and energy stems from. You inherently gravitated to taking care of your dolls, or teaching your stuffed animals, maybe it was playing with a cash register, or lining up your army men. You may have liked to draw and dream up new worlds, write stories or perform for your loved ones, play outside and build forts. We all had things that we just did for the shear fun of it. Contemplate what those were/are for you.
What Comes Naturally
This is a concept you’ve heard before >>> what comes naturally to you? If you aren’t sure, ASK a loved one >>> What am I good at?
Each one of us have been given unique skills and gifts. There is NOT nothing you’re good at. So what is it?
Maybe you’re great at giving advice, motivating others, organizing, planning, thinking outside the box, making things with your hands, etc, What are your skills that come naturally?
Making a Move
Ok, so you’ve pin pointed something that you’re good at and excites you, now what?
MAKE A MOVE!
Doesn’t have to be big, just an incremental action step. If anything, it’s going to enlighten you more about things that fire you up and offer even more clarity.
What is one thing, right now, you can do to incorporate that thing in any way? Maybe, you dedicate each time in the evening to painting, or tutoring kids in English. There is something you can change in your normal routine that can be used for utilizing that passion in some form or fashion.
Don’t Be Scared
There is NOTHING to be scared of. Sure you may be nervous to change things up a bit, but what other option do you have? This is how to find your purpose in life.
“Though not everything that we face can be changed, nothing can be changed until we face it.” – John Maxwell
You don’t get the luxury of sitting back and what you’ve always dreamed of falling into your lap. You have to put the “do” into living your life. Simply observing and dreaming and thinking is not going to open doors and take your life in directions you’ve thought about. You have to take the risk of doing things differently, failing, and putting yourself out there.
It’s ALL GOING TO BE OKAY! No matter the outcome, you will be better for it because it will give you wisdom about yourself and life. Wisdom is a wonderful gift and one you can give to others to spare them from hurts or motivate them in knowledge.
Life is ONE CHANCE, one chance to do it well, and leave behind a legacy. GO FOR IT!
